A day in Kitakyushu with travel creators
To Kitakyushu with a group of travel creators. We started at the morning market, walked through the shopping street and finished with sushi for lunch.
At the market we watched the morning prep; on the shopping street everyone drifted into whichever shop caught their eye; at the sushi counter we listened to the chef talk. What stayed with us was that nobody looked like they were travelling for a shoot. They looked like people who had come to enjoy a day out.
On projects like this, the thing we keep relearning is not to overpack the schedule. The detours are where the photos that feel like the person come from. Our job is to finish the logistics beforehand and, on the day, walk a few steps behind.
